I have been studying the co-working concepts for a number of years. I wanted to find out if anyone has had experience with pop up spaces. I want to try this out in the Hyde Park Community in Chicago.
Can you please define your vision of cowork pop-up? I host two cowork mornings in my community in two cities via Meetup. They’re regularly scheduled, 9-12 noon on Monday and Wednesday.
If that is what you were thinking of, there are many people on here who do this. Melissa Geissinger, WIMP Spaces @misswimp did it for a long time until they opened their location.

Jennifer, my apologies for my tardiness in answering your question. Temporary space to use as a trial period to ascertain interest and to create a buzz in the hopes of finding permanence. Donated space with donations for business community. I live in the Hyde Park community of Chicago. Other than the University of Chicago’s Invention Center which is more of a business incubator for STEM Research there is no spaces on the South side that I am aware of.

Thank you Alex - I will definitely check it out. I live in the Hyde Park Community of Chicago. The University of Chicago has business incubators for STEM type research and business which is the closest to the concept on the south side of Chicago.

I’m glad your question showed me a new way of pop-up coworking, via Alex’s lnk to the SF makerspace. Where I live, north of Austin, there used to be a jelly but it disbanded and we don’t have a cowork space (yet… someone is working on theirs sooner than mine) We don’t have a good space either AND I’ve tried coworking from a makerspace, too (TechShop) with no luck. I’ve had good success (if you call 8 ppl per cowork morning) at two local coffee shops. Monday in one city, 9-12noon and Wednesday in another city, 9-12 noon. Regularly scheduled with a growing regular cast of characters. I’m considering ‘renting’ a table (to ensure we have space together) soon with one location. Another location tends to be busy, but I want to host at least 1x month there, but they’re not into renting a table (even if no one comes but me… work on that one).
It’s really helped me get the word out and build a community. This community has been aided by posting the events on local FB community pages (at least for my area).

Just joined the group! A pop up space is an awesome idea. Great way to build community.
It’s been a few months…have you started one in Hyde Park?
