Music or not?

I’m sure this question has been asked before but interested to know everyone’s views. Do you (or not) have music playing in your coworking space? if so what type of stuff do you play?

There’s a definite difference of opinion among our members and we can’t please all the people all the time but we would like to please most of the people most of the time

Thanks!

Teresa

One thing that I notice in Coworking spaces with no music is FAR less interaction between people because they’re concerned about breaking the silence. It’s one of the very first things I notice when I visit a new space: the silence is often deafening.

Having something - almost anything - softly playing is generally better than nothing at all. People tend to get MOST annoyed by music when it’s the same stuff over and over and over, so plan to switch it up.

Sometimes what we do in NODO Cowork, in order to break the silence is that we have a colaborative spotify list. So we have music from the coworkers and intend to invite people that are not on the space to interact with our list.

Also another thing that could be interesting to try out is to invite people ti pick their favorite 12 songs (as an LP) and is called maybe the name of the coworker, or it has a theme in comun… Also another thing can be to exchange between coworking spaces this music lists… that is a good idea =)

People here like to have music on but some like the silence. A space with private silence places, to escape would be great to apply on a coworking space.

We started playing music a few weeks ago, everyone’s a big fan and there’s generally a lot more conversation in the office.
