I’m a member/maintainer/director at Workantile in Ann Arbor. We’ve been around for 10 years now and have operated nearly since the beginning essentially as a cooperative with member maintainers and as a not-for-profit. I’m looking for similar spaces to chat with – we’ve been facing increasing pressure from competitors that have massively different business structures.

You might be interested in learning more about Work Hard Pittsburgh. They operated in a similar way for years, and a couple years ago embraced the modem, moving to a fully member-owned coop. They’ve done very well because of that broad engagement/investment by members, even as larger commercial coworking spaces have opened in the city. I recommend reaching out to their executive committee.
