We are looking for something SUPER SUPER simple that will enable members
to book their own time in the meeting room here @Work Hubs.
Phil has a Google Apps account and even when the Meeting Room calendar
is shared and set to 'public' it stays on 'view only'.
If you know of a very light touch meeting room booking software that
works with Google Calendar that would work too.
A full blown CRM / room booking/event suite/coworking software package
would be overkill.
Thanks
Love Bernie

This is anecdata, but 50%+ of our room reservations are done at the iPad controller mounted by the door of each room vs the online tool. It def cost a bit more to put an iPad (2nd gen, refurb works great) there but it lets people see upcoming reservations at a glance just by walking up to/past the room, and helps avoid more meeting collisions than web based calendars did for us.
The slack integration of that app looks *really *rad, but I don’t think I would trade it for our iPads.

Hi Bernie,
We have a really easy to use booking function in Deskworks. You can also add a link from your website, so it’s front facing. People can book the conference room or a private office without going anywhere but your website. Let me know if you want to take a look.

Thanks Barbara - the thing is we have one room and are looking for something that works directly with what we use - Google Calendar / Slack / Trello.

Got it, Bernie. Sounds like the getaroomapp route may be your best bet! As an aside, we use Google Calendar for scheduling each other, and you just have to share your calendar with the people you want to be able to schedule on it. Not sure that works for you, but maybe!

Hi Alex,
GetARoomApp allows admins to create new “Companies” and “Users”. Then, the admin assigns a number of hours to each Company that can be shared each month by the members of that Company. So, if your space has a company of 3 people that gets 12 hours of usage each month, each member of that company gets an account and can book conf room time using the shared 12 hours. If it’s a solo person, we list the solo person as both the company and the only user in that company.
At BizHaus, we hate strict rules. We started off on the honor-system (i.e., book on google calendar and don’t hog the conference rooms!) … but as we grew, staff was spending too much unproductive time mediating conf room conflicts, so we had to move to an organized system. We have about nine conference rooms spread in 4 buildings and about 350 members sharing them. Each full-time members gets 6 hrs per person, open-deskers get 4 and part-timers get 2. GetARoomApp has worked well for us for a couple of years.
Hope that helps!
Keith
p.s. we’re big fans of your podcast
