Coworking Space -- door signage inspiration

In about two weeks we’re launching our second coworking space in Palm Coast, Florida; and I’d like for you to share some exterior-door design inspiration with me from your own spaces.

Background and First Location: We started our first space 5-and-a-half years ago. It is now home to over 50 companies, and 100 members (some individuals and some in those companies). We have not branded our first space on the exterior or interior, because it’s more of a traditional building, in a traditional-feeling business complex, AND nearly 75% of our members are in traditional businesses and practices (attorneys, financial folk, realtors, non-profits, and 16 other industries). They mostly need a full-time business location with part-time use of space. So the exterior doors of our first space has signage of those companies who opt-in to be listed on the outside.

Why Second Location? Our creative-class coworking members (designers, developers, bloggers, authors etc) are on a growth-path however, which is the reason we’ve added this second space. The new space is about 7 miles south of our main space, has an open floor plan, with a newly built, bar-height receptionist desk and an attached round surface for coworkers, a seating-lounge right across from it, and modular coworking tables (which also convert to accommodate meetings of up to 40).

I’ve attached an image of the exterior glass doors, here.

We will brand this second space on the exterior doors as: " **COWORK ***by Office Divvy *"

If you have unique door signage in your space, would you share with me a link, or a picture here perhaps?

We need some inspiration before we finalize our design; and material choices for signage.

Thanks much…

Of course Ky - here’s our front door - all done with tile mural!

Good timing!

Our new front door is pretty uninspiring so far but we’ve only been using it since last September and are still gathering ideas. One idea we are moving ahead with is a sign similar to this brewery sign Susan saw recently. Ours is going to say COWORKING est. 2007. We are still working out materials and such.

Be nice to have a Pinterest site with front doors / signage!

Funny you should ask! I am in the middle of building our outdoor sign out of wood… it is going high up on a building so it’s kind of large. I will update photos as I progress if you’d like.

That’s awesome! Loving this thread. Also love the idea of collecting signage ideas with Pinterist or something like that! Has anybody started yet?

Our front door and window has gained us a fair amount of notoriety in the neighborhood, even though it doesn’t really do much to explain what’s inside:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0xxn755yoxubmo0/_CJD7756.jpg

People know the statue (who we’ve named Ophelia, and we dress themed to the events/seasons/holidays), and our colorful painted mosaic door.

We realized that people who didn’t know to look for it, though, would get lost. So we’re replacing the mosaic door with a pretty sweet frosted glass appliqué, which we’re still finalizing the design for. Here’s the draft (the black parts will be frosted, white parts will be clear, gradients will be…gradient

We just had our new front door decal installed today. People are already going nuts over it.

Our new front door is pretty uninspiring so far but we’ve only been using it since last September and are still gathering ideas. One idea we are moving ahead with is a sign similar to this brewery sign Susan saw recently. Ours is going to say COWORKING est. 2007. We are still working out materials and such.

It looks exactly like etched glass, but it’s about $500 installed and isn’t permanent.

5yrs in, and we finally have signage.

Here’s our new front door signage. Simple, but eye catching from the street and says what it needs to say. We have beautiful cherrywood steps leading up to our space (which is 2nd and 3rd floors) and so I didn’t want to cover the door with a solid decal so that they can be seen any time.
