It's been 4 years since BuddyPress has been mentioned on here. Has anyone used a BuddyPress site they've enjoyed in the past couple of years, and if so, which one? Has anyone here tried to build a BuddyPress site in the past couple of years, and how did it go?
I'm considering starting a broader collaboration-marketing-data platform in addition to the coworking website for Collective Agency. I know Slack is popular but it doesn't work for my needs, and so I'm specifically wondering about BuddyPress. (My team and I are super-fans of Wordpress and its plugins.) Otherwise Facebook groups and a separate additional Wordpress site would be the next most likely option. Thanks, Alex Linsker http://collectiveagency.co
We use WPengine for managed WordPress hosting and have never experienced performance problems with BuddyPress. Our business focuses on WordPress and BuddyPress. We recently (past 1.5 years) built a social network with over 2,000 users and courseware (mapped to BuddyPress Groups) for global healthcare leaders fighting HIV, TB, Malaria and Ebola in Africa and Asia.

I’m volunteering with a healthcare oriented non-profit organization who is looking to migrate their forum from facebook group to a more secure forum on their WordPress site. They have ~1000 users and we are researching a combination of BuddyPress and BB Press for the forum. Would really appreciate any updates you have several years later on whether you would still recommend BuddyPress?
